Tier four golf programs will stay open
Following the government's latest update to Covid-19 regulations, London and areas in the south east of England will move to Tier 4 alert from December 20th.
Unlike full bans, golf courses in Tier 4 areas can remain open. However, the game is limited to two balls only for separate households and up to four for those living in the same household or in the same bubble.
Under Tier 4, non-essential retail stores – including pro shops and golf retailers – will have to close even though Click & Collect is allowed. Clubhouses and changing rooms will be closed, take away only.
Outdoor coaching is allowed individually or for several members of the same household, but indoor coaching is not. Customization can be done one-to-one outdoors, but is not permitted indoors.
Unless required for professional or other reasons, Tier 4 areas must not be left or entered by anyone from a Tier 1, 2 or 3 area, so that someone who lives in this area cannot be in a region with less Rank can play golf.
Scottish law has banned all people from leaving or entering their borders, except for work, while all golf courses in Wales must be closed from December 20th until further notice.
Full information on Tier 4 guidelines can be found on the government website. To find out what level of the alert system you are in, please check the government zip code tracker.
