Doherty leads the physique of recent gamers
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) announced today that former world champion Ken Doherty has been elected chairman of the newly formed WPBSA Players Organization.
Last November, the main constitutional amendments were approved by WPBSA members at an Extraordinary General Meeting, which included the creation of the new WPBSA Players' Board. Indeed, a players association for professionals currently participating in the World Snooker Tour. WPBSA players will sit alongside the existing WPBSA world association chaired by Jason Ferguson. This will continue to drive global governance and development of the sport.
Doherty, who turned pro in 1990, will use his vast experience in the sport to guide WPBSA players for years to come. Peter Lines is also elected Vice Chairman.
With the support of colleagues Nigel Bond, Ding Junhui and Mike Dunn, the board will endeavor to represent the interests of the professional players currently on tour in the best possible way.
