We know we are one day late for the Class 5 meeting that closed the competition at the Jeff Rouse Center yesterday. We followed up via Meet Mobile and saw some great performances from swimmers / schools from the DMV region.

Thomas Jefferson won the boys title, behind some great swimmers from Michael Zhang (1,200 IM, 1,100 Breast), Evan Zhang (1st 50 Free, 2nd 100 Breast), Will Kohn (1,100 Back). It is noteworthy that Michael and Evan were separated by 0.01 in the 100 breast while taking 1st and 2nd place !!! Riverside finished 3rd overall and had a few winners from individual events. Christopher Kopac won the 500 and finished 2nd in the 200 IM. Robert Quan took 1st place in the 200 Free and 3rd place in the 500. As a team, the Riverside quartet of Christian Szilagyi, Jacob Quan, Christopher Kopac and Robert Quan took first place in the 400 Free Relay!

At the girls' reunion, Mackenzie McConagha won both individual events – 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. In the 100 back, she set a new 5A state record with a time of 53.21, which dwarfed her record of 53.44 from last year. Her individual and relay swim brought Briar Woods to 3rd place overall in the team competition! Janika Perezous of Potomac Falls was another area swimmer who had a great meet. She finished 3rd overall in the 500 Free and 2nd in the 100 Back.
