PVS Spring Championship meets begin this week!

It was a year ago, almost to the day that the swimming community was rocked by announcements from local authorities that all pools and personal exercise activities would be closed. We received the announcement regarding PVS JOs on 10. March published. We are pleased to announce that this year PVS has not only decided to hold championship meetings starting this Friday, March 12th, but also to offer multiple locations for the meetings. The decision to host these events came out of the meeting of the collaborative competition committee on January 13th. In order to allow the largest number of swimmers to attend a championship meeting, PVS has introduced the “A Champs Meeting in March” policy. This means that each swimmer is only allowed to participate in one short distance championship meeting in PVS in March. Swimmers attending the meetings must confirm upon registration that this will be the only championship meeting they will attend in March.

The starting signal will be given with the Wave 1 meeting for athletes aged 14 and over who have met the age and qualification standards:

The meeting will be a timed finale that will take place in two locations: the Dulles South Recreation Center and Claude Moore. The sessions are grouped into PODs. PODs are the same teams for the girls and boys meeting.

PVS has set up special websites that contain information for each meeting:

Wave 1 Dulles POD 1 teams: NCAP, SNOW, YORK

Wave 1 Claude Moore Teams: AAC, APAC, DCPR, DRAG, MSSC, PM, RMSC, TANK, safety data sheet

The psychological sheets, COVI guidelines, facility cards, and other administrative materials are available on each site. The live feed links are not yet available, but we assume they will be offered on or before the day of the meeting.

PVS, in collaboration with SportFair, has set up an online shop to buy t-shirts and sweatshirts to commemorate your athlete's experience:

The next scheduled meetings are Wave 2 and Wave 4, which will take place March 18-21 at the Freedom Center in Manasas, VA. The Wave 2 meeting is for 18 and younger and Wave 4 for 10 and less that meet the qualification standards:

Wave 2 swimmers will have the opportunity to take exams and finals, while Wave 4 will be a timed final meeting.

The highlight of the series is Wave 3, which takes place March 25-28 in Claude Moore and is intended for 11-14 year olds who meet qualification standards.

This meeting is similar to the JO meeting, which usually takes place in March. This will be a test and final meeting, with the 11-12 swim finals in the early evening and the 13-14 later.

We are grateful that PVS is creative, proactive, and determined to create this schedule and give the kids the opportunity to compete. We look forward to seeing many sessions online and sharing good news!
