  • 10 NHL games are scheduled for Thursday, April 8th
  • Robert Duff lost his election on Monday, leaving his NHL record at 22-15 (+5.27 units won)
  • The Calgary Flames-Vancouver Canucks are being moved in the ranks of the Canucks due to a COVID-19 outbreak

When it comes to the NHL odds that the team will win the Stanley Cup in, defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning is one of the leading contenders to win it all again. At the moment, however, something is wrong in the cup holder camp.

Tampa Bay lost two games in a row with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, scoring nine goals. The Lightning is 0-8 against the spread for the last eight games.

Tampa Bay even managed to lose a regular season home game to the Detroit Red Wings for the first time since 2011. As the Wings prepare to host the Nashville Predators on Thursday, that win over the Blitz marks Detroit's only win in their past five games.

A total of 10 NHL games are planned for Thursday. The Calgary Flames-Vancouver Canucks are being moved in the ranks of the Canucks due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Chances to win starting April 8th.

lightning strike

Tampa Bay lost a total of five out of seven. The Lightning were overtaken for first place in the Central Division by their rival, the Florida Panthers.

They hadn't lost three games in a row all season. Now Tampa Bay is threatening it for the second time in 15 days.

The Lightning has given up at least four goals in four of the seven games in this current skid. In the meantime, they have played eight games without scoring more than three goals in a game.

The Blue Jackets returned home from a 1-5 road trip and ended a three-game loss by turning the lightning upside down on Tuesday. Columbus is 2-2-3 in their last seven home games. The Blue Jackets have not won any consecutive home games since February 8-18.

It was a costly victory, however. Striker Boone Jenner broke his finger when he was hit by a shot. He was operated on successfully on Wednesday and is expected to be out for six weeks.

Selection: Columbus Blue Jackets (+176), 1 unit.

Red Winging It

An interesting pattern develops in this season's Red Wings games when they play against the same team in consecutive competitions. On eight of the last ten occasions they have seen the same team twice in a row, Detroit has won at least one of the two games. Interestingly, in six of these outcomes, the Wings won the second game of the set.

Detroit dropped a 3-2 home win against Nashville on Tuesday. Will the wings add another helping of successful seconds when the same two teams face each other again?

The Wings are the last 11 times 7: 4 against the Predators in Detroit.

Selection: Detroit Red Wings (+138).
