Stokes & # 39; Royals were beaten in their opening game of the IPL on Monday
English all-rounder Ben Stokes was banned from the Indian Premier League with a broken finger, according to his team from Rajasthan Royals.
England says its medical staff are in contact and Stokes will take a second x-ray "in the next 24-48 hours" to assess the severity of the injury.
"I'm devastated," says Stokes said the mirror.
"Having a broken finger in the first game is just devastating."
England's next game will be their first Test against New Zealand, starting on June 2nd.
The IPL runs until May 30th with the possibility of English players missing the New Zealand Test if their team qualifies for the final stages.
English bowler Jofra Archer, another Royals player, missed the start of the tournament due to an elbow injury and returned to training on Monday to prove his fitness.
The Royals say Stokes will stay in India to support the rest of the roster and they will be looking at replacement options.
Monday's loss marked the first game of this year's IPL that Stokes bowled for 12 minutes before being sacked for a three-ball duck.
After the New Zealand series of two tests, the year in England also includes a home test series against India, a Twenty20 World Cup and the Ashes in Australia in winter.
