England Golf Declares Roster Abroad for 2021
England Golf has named its roster for men and women overseas for 2021. Both groups are made up of college players in America who continue to advocate the representation of their country.
The four selected men and nine women have access to support and remote coaching sessions and will be considered for English team events at home and abroad in the summer months.
Dan Bradbury, Barclay Brown (main picture), Angus Flanagan and Joe Pagdin were selected to represent the men, while Jess Baker, Rosie Belsham (main picture), Annabell Fuller, Ellie Gower, Charlotte Heath, Caley McGinty, Mimi Rhodes and Hannah were selected Screen and Amelia Williamson were on the women's squad.
Stephen Burnett, Men's Performance Manager, said: "First and foremost, I am delighted that England Golf has made the decision to support players who have chosen to stay in training." The competitive environment that the NCAA offers, often coupled with a climate that encourages year-round practice and play, makes US college golf an attractive option for aspiring international amateur players.
“The previous tournament of our US-based players and the amateur golf world rankings we have achieved speak for themselves. All of them are destined to play their roles on our English teams this year as we look to further unprecedented success in international amateur play. "
Jennifer Henderson, assistant performance manager for women, added, “With many young women golfers on the England Golf Talent Pathway exploring US college scholarships, I am delighted that we can again support an overseas women’s roster. This exceptionally talented group of players has a history of successful accomplishments. We are excited to see what this season has in store for you.
"The national women's program has strong players on both sides of the Atlantic and means that the selection of our big women's teams is likely to be highly competitive." Our goal is to win consecutive titles at Home International and compete for a medal at the European Ladies & # 39; Team Championship in Royal County Down. "
Two of the men, Barclay Brown and Angus Flanagan, were recently named to the GB&I Walker Cup team for the game against the US in May.
Brown from Yorkshire is attending Stanford University and won his first college event at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic earlier this month. Flanagan's studies at the University of Minnesota and two of his three victories on the college circuit earned Surrey golfers invitations to the 2020 3M Open and the 2021 Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour.
Dan Bradbury is a student at the Lincoln Memorial and has a wealth of experience in college events. The Wakefield-born player has now won eight times on his college circuit, while Joe Pagdin is a key member of the University of Florida golf team and the former England boys' squad is in the top 30 of the world's amateur golf rankings.
For the women, Annabell Fuller was in great shape for the University of Florida. The reigning English women's stroke play champion recently finished 22nd in the Augusta National Women & # 39; s Amateur.
Caley McGinty and Mimi Rhodes were also recently among the winners. McGinty from Gloucestershire won the Clemson Invitational representing Kent State University. Rhodes from Somerset, who studied at Wake Forest University, took victory in last week's Cavalier Match Play event.
University of Oklahoma student Screen has gotten some good results, bagging a hole-in-one that helped her team a top ten finish at the Clover Cup last month.
Amelia Williamson and former Australian women's amateur champion Charlotte Heath have played key roles in a successful season for Florida State University's women's team – including last month's win at Pinetree Collegiate.
Rosie Belsham starred when the Baylor University Women & # 39; s Golf Team took first place in the US, while Ellie Gower continues to show great form in her sophomore year at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Northumberland's Jess Baker helped the University of Central Florida improve its rankings and recently took the team win at the Brickyard Invitational.
