361º Meraki four ranking

The Meraki by 361º is an iconic shoe that is universally loved and known as a superstar all-rounder treadmill. The Meraki 4 is an exciting update to this bestseller that is lightweight, responsive, and offers improved ergonomic comfort. The technology includes a new lightweight EVA foam, LTEVA, which works together with optimized, shock-absorbing QU! KFOAM and a QU! KSPINE insert with high energy return. This new version of the shoe also features an updated shoe platform to provide even more comfort and responsiveness for a smooth, cushioned walk throughout the heel-to-toe transition.

Test run

Before I put on the Meraki 4s for the first time, I had read all about the shoe's new features and my brain was swimming with technical coaching knowledge. But my head cleared when my heel clicked into place – whatever combination of super foams is used in the shoe, at that moment I just knew they were damn comfortable. Everything seemed like comfort from the insole to the tongue, and I felt like I was wearing them for weeks – rarely the case with brand new shoes.

I've often found that the more comfortable the shoe, the less fast I am, but that wasn't the case at all with the Meraki 4s. I took her straight to the treadmill for my speed session and was impressed with her responsiveness as I started increasing the pace. They coped well with longer sidewalks and gave good energy return without friction or bubbles over the longer distances.

The only thing I didn't like about the shoe was a matter of preference, not performance – I found the shoe too warm. Full Disclosure: I had run on a rather mild day, but I still felt like all the padding was a little too much warmth to my feet. On cooler days or for those who need a little more warmth for circulatory reasons, cuddly toes are certainly more than welcome.

I would also recommend going up a half or full size to leave plenty of room in the toe box as mine felt a little snuggly.

Overall, I think the Meraki 4s is a great update of this all-round shoe. They're ideal if you want to invest in a pair of trainers that can do it all and are ready to run with you from the first time you wear them.
