Adam Wooden

The WPBSA sadly announces today that Adam Wood, a qualified WPBSA snooker coach, has passed away at the age of 53.

Wood, who successfully completed the 1st4sport Level 2 certificate in snooker coaching in May 2019, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor just nine weeks ago and remained consistently positive before unfortunately losing his fight on Friday.

His wife Maggie said: “He was my husband and best friend and a great father, grandfather and friend to many in his life.

"He was incredibly passionate about snooker and was a happy, happy person who was incredibly funny and had a big, generous heart."

Chris Lovell, WPBSA Head of Coaching and Training Development, added: “When Adam took our coaching course in Leeds, everyone knew his passion for snooker and his willingness to help others. He successfully completed the course and graduated at a very high level with the vision of expanding the game in his area.

"We would like to express our condolences to Maggie and Adam's family at this sad time."
