New occasion deliberate for high stars of girls
World Women & # 39; s Snooker (WWS) has announced plans for the return of the Women & # 39; s Tour Championship as an invitational tournament aimed at high-performing players and elite talent.
Previously held in 2019 as a one-day tournament with the four best players in the world, the Women & # 39; s Tour Championship will be included in the WWS calendar from the 2022/23 season with a completely new, extended outline format that will be presented for the time being to return :
- A total of eight players from ranking lists (6) and invited players (2)
- Players who qualify from a one-year ranking from the 2021/22 season
- Two-day competition in longer formats than regular tour events
- Games that are played at a table
The launch of the event will add further incentive to all female players who want to compete at the highest level and underpin the significant growth of the tour on a broad scale in recent years.
The WWS Tour now includes over 150 players from around the world and includes players of all ages, experience and ability. It is this continuous and successful development that has resulted in the tour being recognized as the official qualification path for the professional World Snooker Tour.
By adding more elite competitions for its female players, this will help bring women snooker to a wider audience and open up new opportunities for everyone.
Mandy Fisher, WWS President said, “We are excited to announce our plans for the return of the Women’s Tour Championship next season.
"We have a number of fantastic players on our tour and I know that this exciting opportunity to qualify for this new and prestigious competition will only make them more determined to climb the ladder for the rest of the season!"
